- Research and teaching experience in geologic hazards: earthquakes, landslides, erosion, flooding, etc.
- Twelve-year Woodinville resident
- Vice Chair, Plymouth Healing Communities, a Seattle nonprofit with a successful program
for ending the cycle of mental illness and homelessness
